Edibles

Imagine having dinner in the garden with fresh ingredients picked just moments before. Whether you have space for a couple of pots, a raised bed or a larger in-ground plot, be prepared to grab a handful of basil or the ingredients for an entire dish.

Creek Side Gardens has a large selection of both organic and conventional vegetable plants including many heirloom varieties. Corn, Cucumbers, Melons, Peppers, Pumpkins, Tomatoes and cole crops are just a few.

We carry many varieties of onion sets, garlic sets, horseradish and asparagus.

Our herb list is long, from Basil to Sage, Curry to Lemongrass. Herbs are well suited and easy to grown in containers.

Here are a few examples -

Create a basil pot, start with a 14 to 16" diameter pot, add a high-quality outdoor potting mix such as Fafard, plant 3 groupings of 2 plants each. Try sweet basil, Thai basil and Purple Ruffles. Or plant a mixed pot with Basil, Dill and Parsely. Consider planting up a pot of Mint Julip, it may be just the right ingredient for a cool drink on a hot summer’s day...

Anyone for fresh salsa? Plant a pot full of Cilantro, Jalapeno Peppers and Salsa Peppers. Harvest, chop, mix and enjoy!

We carry Botanical Interest Seeds, based in Boulder, CO -many of which are certified organic. Our Heirloom seed line is from Baker Creek, they are open-pollinated and all natural.

Many varieties of fruit grow well in our area, including raspberries, strawberries and grapes. We stock them all season!

A few helpful tips-

  • Given our shortened growing season here in the front range, start with seedlings to insure a bountiful harvest. However, carrots, radishes, peas and lettuce can be seeded directly in the growing area.
  • Add compost to both raised and in-ground beds prior to planting.
  • For containers, replace the soil each season.
  • Thin seedlings as needed.
  • Apply a vegetable specific fertilizer as plants mature - such as Fox Farm organic Tomato and Vegetable.
  • Harvest and enjoy.
