Summer Perennials, Shrubs, Trees 2021

Perennials

June is Perennial Month, so do not miss out on all the beautiful Grown Fresh perennials blooming along the Perennial Pathway at Creek Side Gardens this weekend.  Now is a great opportunity to view all the early summer season bloomers to find exciting ideas for coloring up those green areas of your perennial garden this time of the year.  Right now, especially the Catmint, Salvia, Yarrow, Penstemon, Columbine, Foxglove and Luxuriant Bleeding Hearts.

Shrubs

Beautiful full-size shrubs growing up fast.  Lots of Potentilla, Spirea, Barberry, Dogwood and Boxwood looking great!  Looking for xeric selections?  Creek Side has an expanded selection of native and dry land shrubs.  Check out the Apache Plume, Fernbush, Rabbitbrush, Leadplant, Yucca, Western Sage, Tri-Lobed Sumac, Serviceberry and Golden Currant shrubs.

Trees

Have you considered a nice 20’-40′ ornamental tree for your yard?  Red Sunset, Sun Valley or Brandywine Maples have leafed out beautifully and are ready to provide pleasing lines and color to your landscape offering great fall color.  Beautiful Ornamental Pear, Flowering Redbud, Newport Plum, European Mountain Ash, Ohio Buckeye, Serviceberry, Gingko biloba, Aspen clump or a columnar Oak will add interest to your landscape.  For shade-providing trees consider a Sunburst Honeylocust or Golden Catalpa which are excellent Colorado landscape choices.

Roses

You know June is also the month for Roses.  Our Creek Side Roses are budded, flowering and even the foliage is shining with freshness and good health.  Many of your favorites in the large hybrid teas and floribundas are coming into flower right now.  Not into big roses but like the idea of a small rose in a perennial bed or along the patio providing bright flowers all season long?  Miniature roses are just right for you.  They are blooming like crazy right now so you can see just how they are going to grow in your landscape, or even a container on the patio.  Just keep them watered and fertilized!  Plus, the ever popular red or pink double Knock Outs!
