Thinking About Growing Herbs and Vegetables?

Are you interested in eating healthy and nutritious food?  And saving money on groceries?  What could be more nutritious and healthier than growing your own herbs and vegetables in your own backyard?  Or even in a container on your patio or balcony?

Creating your own herb garden or vegetable garden can be a very satisfying experience, although it is not a no-maintenance activity.  But with little planning it can certainly be a lower maintenance garden.

Make a Plan that is Best for You

If you’re new to gardening or just tight on time, keep it simple and keep it small. You can grow a lot of food in a single garden bed, raised bed or a few containers. We have so many compact vegetable varieties to choose from to grow in small spaces and containers.

Site Selection, Compost, Soil and Raised Beds
  • Plenty of sunshine – at least 8 hours per day.
  • Healthy soil is everything! If your existing soil is less than ideal – add Natures Yield Organic Compost or consider a raised bed as an option. Use Natures Yield Outdoor Planters Mix in the raised bed.
  • Gardening in containers – use a ProMix potting soil– not garden soil – for your potted vegetables.
  • Raised beds offer so many advantages. They warm up early in spring, drain well, and can be intensively planted which means more food in less space. Raised Bed Garden Plans – Creek Side Gardens
