Creek Side Spring Surprises

Even though the retail store has not opened yet (opening Sat. Feb. 27!), it has been a very busy couple of weeks for Creek Side.  Our geranium crop has been planted and the plants look great!  We will have several new varieties for you to check out this spring.  Along with the geranium pots, we planted geranium and fuchsia hanging baskets so they will get nice and big and full for Mother’s Day.

Next on the planting cycle came the perennials.  Over 220 varieties selected by Creek Side staff to be the hardiest in our Colorado growing climate.  What does that mean?  Perennials that are able to with stand our warm, dry growing climate in the summer and our cold, variable climate conditions in the winter.  When you shop for perennial plants at Creek Side Gardens, you can be assured that you have chosen the healthiest plants around that will grow and perform in your garden as you should expect.

Not only are we working in the greenhouse.  Last week the staff attended our industries premier conference and trade show, the ProGreen Expo held at the Denver Convention Center.  This is our annual opportunity to network with our plant and product suppliers to find out the new, cool and “must have” flower varieties and helpful garden tools and garden décor products.  Plus 3 days of informative lectures, classes and demonstrations to attend so that the Green Team is up on all the latest relevant gardening information.

And while all the Green Team has been planting in the greenhouse and getting smarter at ProGreen, there have been exciting changes underway in the store.  As usual, the glasshouse has been taken apart from one end to the other and completely re-decorated.  We will feature an easy to shop environment with sharp displays of everything you need for your garden and patio.  And you won’t believe what has happened in the lobby checkout area!  That’s all we can say, you will just have to stop by to check it out for yourself!

Grand re-opening Saturday February 27 at 9am.  Tillandsia workshop at 10am.  You know tillandsias, the air plants that are so cool but require so little care they can be placed anywhere in your home.  Make your own decorative hanging tillandsia garden with many different plants to choose from.  Fairy Garden workshop Saturday March 5.  Lots of new Fairy Garden plants and décor to check out!  Create your own Spring Wreath workshop Sat. March 12.  See you soon!
