In the autumn season, we want to enhance our space with natural elements and festive décor for the season. One way to do this is to create a DIY table runner for your main dining table, a credenza or mantel.
DIY Table Runner Directions – Creek Side Style
1)
Start with natural elements; moss, fall leaves, twigs and berries. Lay out the moss as the ‘runner’. Pick leaves in yellow, orange and red tones. If you rather, you can use a cloth runner instead of the moss. Let the leaves fall where they may; give it a natural look. Random twigs add texture. Do you have any lingering berries from a shrub? Snip them off as a cluster and lay down with the leaves and twigs.
2) Next, add candles. They can be wick burning or LED battery candles. LED tea light candles make a dramatic effect if you tuck under the moss and leaves, illuminating up from the bottom. Taller candles can also be dramatic or a set of tapers. Don’t be afraid to use candles of different heights and colors.
3) Here at Creek Side, we have a good assortment of add-on’s. Resin or ceramic pumpkins, pinecone plaid acorns, fall floral and more. Stop by to pick up some accents for your DIY runner. Many craft stores carry an Autumn ‘scatter’ potpourri combo, another great add-on.
4) Elevate your table runner to a cornucopia of edibles. Apples, acorns or large nuts (such as walnuts), dried oranges and cinnamon would be a surprise to anyone!
The sky is the limit, and the choices are endless. If you are hosting a Thanksgiving dinner or a simple Autumn party, your guests will be truly impressed by your display.
