Easter Egg Scramble and Open House

At Creek Side Gardens, we believe that joy comes from being connected and making active contributions to the community. Our free community events create a place where we come together to celebrate the seasons all through the calendar year.  This Event Season at Creek Side Gardens is especially fun and exciting as we kick-off another successful year.

One of everybody’s favorites is the Creek Side Gardens Annual Easter Egg Scramble, Saturday April 15 this year.  It is still the traditional Easter Egg Hunt this year, but Scramble was just too good not to use in the title.  Get it?  Eggs?  Scramble?  Anyway…don’t forget to arrive a little early as the Scramble begins promptly at 10am and the egg collecting action is exciting.

5 years and younger will hunt in the Glasshouse under more controlled conditions.  Everybody else, in the Courtyard.  Please limit each child to a total collection of 6 eggs so that everybody has a chance to find some eggs.  The Pansy planting station will be set-up for kids that would like to plant a pansy to take home.

Because Easter is late this year, that Easter Egg Hunt coincided with the Creek Side Gardens Spring Open House.  Easter Egg Hunt in the morning, Open House in the afternoon.  The Open House is your best opportunity to get a sneak peek as to what all the new plants and flowers are going to look like this spring and summer.  Lots of new annual flowers for hanging baskets and container gardens, plus a big selection of new perennial varieties.

Everything will be available to view in the greenhouses and in the nursery.  Do you know about the Hardy Boy Red Hot Pot program?  Stop by to get the details including how to get free plants.  Join a greenhouse tour and find out how Creek Side comes up with all the beautiful plants you see in the greenhouse.

McTeggart Irish DancersSome of you may have missed it, but a new event that was added to the calendar this year was the St. Patrick’s Day Family Friendly Get-Together.  A selection of Irish themed snacks and beverages were enjoyed.  A fun Irish scavenger hunt offered a lucky few a chance to win discount coupons.  But the highlight of the evening was a visit from the McTeggart Irish Dancers who performed traditional Irish dancing on a wooden floor right in the middle of the Glasshouse!  The dancing and music were exciting enough to get everybody clapping along.  Might have to think about this event again for next year.

And of course, the Big Annual Mother’s Day Geranium Sale is on the calendar for Mother’s Day Weekend.  This year on Friday, Saturday, Sunday, May 12, 13, 14 with doors opening at 8am.  Creek Side will be brimming with all colors of geraniums to get you and Mother off to a great gardening start for the year!
