However up next, the Fall Season, a favorite time of the year for so many people.  Following please find several fun Fall projects.

Planting Fall Annuals

Although summer annuals are winding down, fall annuals are beginning to take center stage.  Nothing can beat the pop of fall color tones of gold, orange and purple in your fall décor this month.

Pansies love the cool nights.  Whether you plant them in a container or in a flower bed, they will become established quickly and bloom like crazy all-season long.

Rudbeckia – Black-Eyed Susans and Zinnias – love a sunny location with the gold and red colors accening the fall season.

Flowering Kale – a wonderful long-lasting accent plant.

Ornamental Peppers – several colors and shapes to choose from, another great accent.

Fall Mums – just beginning to bloom now to offer extended color for your porch and patio.  Choose from a selection of colors and sizes.

Purple Fountain Grass – their purple leaves and tall, wispy seed plumes are just the right accent.

Planting Fall Bulbs

September and October are the best months for planting bulbs. This will allow ample time for the bulbs to become well rooted before the ground freezes. Consider mulching the bed to maintain a more consistent soil temperature.

Creek Side features flowering blends of early, mid and late season tulip varieties that will provide a longer season of colorful flowers in the springtime.  Ask your Green Team garden expert about how to plant bulbs.

Planting Fall Vegetable Seeds

The vegetable harvest season is peaking now, but planting is not over if you choose to keep going.  Sow cool season lettuce, spinach and kale seeds now for a late fall harvest.

Fall Porch Décor

As temperatures cool down, be prepared to decorate your porch with beautiful fall décor.  Creek Side will soon feature a selection of early season pumpkins in addition to straw bales, cornstalks and gourds.
