Time in a Bottle

An old year has come gone and we look upon a new year and all the “white spaces-of time” in 2016 to be filled in the calendar. UrbanDictionary.com defines ‘Time in a Bottle,’ as the most valuable thing or something we can never have or even that moment you wish you could have back and live in forever. We might get sentimental and misty-eyed when we hear the lyrics; “If I could save time in a bottle, the first thing I would like to do, is to save every day till eternity passes away just to spend them with you.” (Jim Croce, December 1970). It could be as simple as an actual bottle (a minute/hour glass) filled with sand. However measured, time is precious. The author of this poem is Anonymous, but it served as inspiration for a young man in 1950 and the message is “timeless.” How will you measure
your time in 2016?
The clock of life is wound but once
And [no one] has the power
To tell just when the hands will stop
On what day – or what hour.
Now is the only time you have
So live it with a will
Don’t wait until tomorrow
The hands may then be still.
